Gas Leak Detection and Analysis Services

GasFindIR

This hand-held infrared camera is used to detect “fugitive emissions”, or leaks of hydrocarbon gases in processing and transmission facilities such as natural gas plants and compressor stations.

Manufactured by FLIR systems, GasFindIR uses infrared measurement technology to detect volatile organic compounds (VOCs) such as methane, butane, propane and toluene. These gases are highly flammable, and are potentially toxic to humans in quantities that are undetectable using conventional measurement technologies.

VOC leakage often goes undetected in fittings, connections, valves, instruments or compressors. Unchecked, the loss of these gases is not only costly, but also potentially hazardous to workers, facilities and the environment.

Once detected, in most cases the leaks can be fixed with minor maintenance or repairs.

MIRAN SapphIRE

The MIRAN SapphIRe is an ambient air analyzer that uses infrared spectroscopy to specifically and accurately measure the presence of up to 120 gaseous compounds.

The equipment has applications in the area of industrial hygiene, which is concerned with the presence of harmful vapors in workplace environments. Some examples are tests of laboratory fume hoods, hospital operating rooms and medical air systems, building ambient air quality, room/building ventilation systems, paint booth ventilation systems, and hazardous emissions from landfill sites.

The MIRAN SapphIRE is also a valuable tool in emergency response situations where it can deliver on-the-spot identifications of unknown airborne compounds.

Hi Flow Sampler

Manufactured by Bacharach Inc., this VOC gas sampling equipment is able to measure the amount of gas being released. The backpack-mounted unit is used to gather air samples from the area of an identified leak. The equipment then quantifies the actual amount of hydrocarbon gas being lost.

From this, customers can calculate the commercial value of the fugitive emissions, which assists in determining the financial impact of the leak on greenhouse gas emissions once its value is established through a carbon trading system.

While this service is used in hydrocarbon production, processing, transmission and distribution facilities it also has applications in drilling and well servicing operations.
