Industrial Hygiene

Industrial HygieneHSE Integrated Ltd. offers a range of industrial hygiene services to help industry protect the health and well-being of workers by anticipating, recognizing, evaluating and controlling biological, chemical and physical hazards in the workplace. Our health and safety team follows a code of ethics laid out by the Board of Registered Safety Professionals, the Canadian Board of Registered Occupational Hygienists, and the American Board of Industrial Hygienists.

Air Sampling

This service is aimed at providing personal and area air monitoring of workplace environments. Identifiable contaminants include asbestos, silica, mould, total dusts and gases.

Noise Testing

Using personal noise monitors and noise mapping instruments, we can monitor a workplace to address potential concerns. Noise testing results are compared to provincial/federal legislative requirements, and are accompanied by practical advice on noise control.

Workplace Indoor Air Quality Assessment (IAQ)

Occupants of buildings sometimes exhibit symptoms that can be related to indoor air quality. To determine if such symptoms are related to a particular building, we measure the levels of pollutants such as carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, formaldehyde and ozone, as well as temperature and relative humidity.

NORM (Naturally Occurring Radioactive Material) Surveys and Monitoring

Naturally occurring radioactive elements include primordial radionuclides (e.g., uranium, radon gas, and carbon-14) that have been present in the rocks and minerals of the earth's crust since it was formed. These elements can flow into the oil and gas process systems, and contaminate the various components of the process flow. A trained industrial hygienist can provide a detailed survey of client’s facility to identify if a NORM is present, and provide solutions with safe work practices.

Chemical Exposure Monitoring

Government regulatory agencies have determined the acceptable limits of harmful chemicals (e.g., benzene) to which workers can be safely exposed. Such exposure can occur via skin absorption, ingestion, or inhalation. Our monitoring services evaluate a workplace’s exposure potential through the various routes of entry to the body, and compare the results to regulatory requirements. To deal with specific concerns, we can assist the client with engineering controls, administrative controls and in the selection of personal protective equipment (PPE).
