HSE Expands Air Quality Monitoring Services with New Greenhouse Gas and Fugitive Emissions Testing Technology

NEWS RELEASE - September 10, 2007

HSE Integrated Ltd. (“HSE” or the “Company”) is pleased to announce that it is introducing a new greenhouse gas and fugitive emissions detection and measurement service for its clients. This new service will expand HSE’s commitment to be an industry leader in air quality monitoring, a major focus of HSE’s Environment services; the “E” in HSE.

HSE has taken delivery of the first of two infrared gas detection systems. This equipment uses recently declassified U.S. military infrared measurement technology to detect the smallest leaks and emissions of Volatile Organic Compounds (“VOCs”) such as methane, butane, propane and toluene. hese gases are also believed to be significant greenhouse gases that contribute to global warming, are highly flammable, and are potentially toxic to humans in quantities that are undetectable using conventional measurement technologies.

HSE has also purchased two VOC leakage sampling systems to be able to measure the quantity of gas being released. This will enable HSE quantify the commercial value of the hydrocarbon sales product being lost and determine their financial impact on greenhouse gas emissions once their value is established through a carbon trading system.

The problem that HSE’s new service will help solve is the detection and elimination of small or unknown VOC leaks in hydrocarbon processing and transmission facilities such as natural gas plants and compressor stations. Called “fugitive emissions”, this is leakage from fittings, connections, valves, instruments or compressors. Without detection and remediation, the loss of these gases is costly and potentially hazardous to workers, facilities and the environment. Once detected, in most cases the leaks can be fixed with minor maintenance or repairs.

This new service will be used primarily in hydrocarbon production, processing, transmission and distribution facilities across Canada, but could also have applications in drilling and well servicing operations.

HSE’s preliminary marketing indicates strong customer interest in the service. The infrared technology HSE is employing is the most effective currently available on the market for fugitive VOC gas emission detection. Once the commercial viability is established, HSE believes this service will ultimately be offered in multiple HSE locations across Canada. HSE technicians have already received the specialized training in the use of the equipment. HSE safety technicians are already experienced in other methods of air quality monitoring and the safe operation of electronics in confined spaces and high hazard areas.

David Yager, Chairman and CEO of HSE, had the following comments.

“This service is yet another example of HSE’s commitment to be the industry leader in providing solutions for our customers for the cost-effective protection of workers, assets, the community and the environment. It also expands HSE’s air quality monitoring services, a business area our Company is confident will continue to expand in the future regardless of current natural gas prices or drilling or well servicing activity.”

HSE is Canada’s only national supplier of integrated industrial Health, Safety and Environmental services. From its head office in Calgary, Alberta HSE serves its clients from field service locations in Alberta, British Columbia, Saskatchewan, Ontario, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Michigan. HSE trades on the TSX Venture Exchange under the symbol “HSL”.
