Audiometric Testing
and Respiratory Equipment Fit Testing

Audiometric Testing

Audiometric testing is the evaluation of an individual’s ability to hear. HSE’s audiometric testing units are mobile, totally self-contained and staffed by certified audiometric technicians.

HSE suggests testing each employee’s hearing upon hiring so that the initial results can be compared with future results to determine if any hearing loss has occurred due to workplace decibel levels. Baseline testing should be performed in the first year of employment, ideally within six months. Testing should be done again the second year, and then every two years. If there is a high turnover of employees, is recommended that employers conduct testing annually.

HSE also provides complete hearing conservation programs to ensure compliance with legislative requirements designed to protect employees from noise-induced

Respiratory Equipment Fit Testing

Many workers deal with conditions that expose them to poisonous gas or airborne contaminants, and may be required to wear personal protective equipment such as Supplied Air Breathing Apparatus (SABA) or Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA). In such instances, it is essential that such equipment be properly fitted to individual users.

HSE Integrated provides comprehensive professional fit-testing services to protect employees. Using a TSI Portacount quantitative fit technician, HSE eliminates human errors associated with other fit-testing methods. Our system is completely automated, stores all the results, and offers an instantaneous printout when tests are complete. Each employee will be issued a wallet-sized card indicating the make, model, size of mask test date and expiration date.

Convenient onsite mobile fit testing is conducted in compliance with occupational health and safety codes and in accordance with CSA standards. During each test, HSE simulates workplace scenarios associated with high-risk environments. This simulation verifies that the certified respirators will provide properly fitted protection in potentially hazardous situations.
