Safety Training

Now Offering Basic Safety Orientation (BSO)

Effective July 1, 2015, the OSSA Basic Safety Orientation (BSO) has replaced the OSSA Regional Orientation (ORO). The BSO is the pre-site access requirement for all NEW contract workers at participating OSSA member work sites. PLEASE NOTE: If you already have proof of OSSA Regional Orientation (ORO), you will continue to have site access, and will not be required to take the BSO.

The BSO course is offered as a scheduled course at our Fort McMurray, AB and Saint John, NB locations

The OSSA BSO is approximately 4.5 hours in duration.

Upon completion of the OSSA Basic Safety Orientation Program a worker will be able to present their credential to any of the Oil Sands Safety Association Owner Member sites (Canadian Natural, Shell Albian Sands, Suncor Energy Inc., and Syncrude Canada Ltd.) as proof of completing the required pre-site access orientation.

Learning Objectives: The learning objective of the OSSA Basic Safety Orientation (BSO) is to provide participants with a general awareness of critical safety initiatives found at participating OSSA Member work sites.

Testing: Participants will be required to achieve 80% on the quiz in order to receive a credential card.

Expiry: This course does not expire.
